The international paddler Kiko Vega Suárez (SCD Ribadesella), four times winner of the Sella International Descent, surprised this week by carrying his white kayak to the llombu, from the city of Canguesa (87 meters), specifically from the Sports area, to the surroundings from the Picu l´Arbolín repeater (located at 575 meters above sea level). It was a seen and not seen, but some intrepid neighbor “hunted” him in the vicinity of the rural nucleus of Llueves, heading to Picu.

That training was part of the plans of the Cangués athlete for his most imminent objective outside the autonomous community of the Principality, which will take place within a few dates: a test in South African waters. In addition, he did it late in the afternoon, at the last minute, to avoid being seen and someone calling him out of his mind. And it is that they were of 10 kilometers, approximately, of itinerary.
Likewise, to descend from Picu’l Arbolín towards the old capital of the Kingdom of Asturias, he had to use a headlamp, due to the darkness. In the end, the marathon canoeist from Cangas de Onís was satisfied with the challenge and continues adding kilometers of hard winter preparation -both in the gym, in water or in mid-mountain- ahead of his set-up in this newly released year 2022.
