TRIBUN-BALI.COM – The latest Rossoneri news updates and the reaction of the Italian Referees Association (AIA) after receiving strong criticism regarding the leadership of referee Matteo Marchetti in the AC Milan-Udinese match.
The spotlight began with Matteo Marchetti’s controversial decision to authorize Udinese’s equalizer against AC Milan at the San Siro which was scored by Destiny Udogie on Saturday, February 26, 2022.
But the AIA decided not to punish referee Matteo Marchetti.
Al the result of the controversial equalizer made AC Milan even more at risk of being hijacked from the top of the Serie A standings, if Napoli won over Lazio.
But the AIA did not budge and decided that neither Marchetti nor VAR official Marco Guida would be sanctioned.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reported, Marchetti’s performance in leading the match was not entirely pleasing to AIA.
However, he is still considered one of the most promising referees in the Italian League Serie A, as quoted by Tribun Jogja from Italian Football.
Regarding Udogie’s equaliser, the footage on the pitch was unclear and the Italian referee did not see the player’s touch to the ball, so the goal remained.
AIA has basically acknowledged the error, and said the goal should have been ruled out.
But neither Marchetti nor Guida have the right tools to make the right decisions.
