Auvergne archers shine at the European Indoor Championships currently taking place in Lasko (Slovenia). This Friday, Stade Clermontois resident Thomas Chirault won team gold. The tricolor collective, composed in addition to the Clermontois of Jean-Charles Valladont and Clément Jacquey, opened the counter of the French delegation.
After team silver at the 2017 championships, the Blues have therefore reached the goal with this gold medal which rewards their perseverance and also their patience. The Blues had not been on the top step of the podium since the Turin edition in 2008.
Opposed to Belarus in the final, Thomas Chirault, Jean-Charles Valladont and Clément Jacquey put pressure on their opponents by chaining the 10. They thus signed a perfect first end and took the advantage. They especially chained with a second set at 60 points to lead logically (4-0).
Thomas Chirault, Jean-Charles Valladont and Clément Jacquey were then able to finish this final very cleanly with a last end at 59 points to win (6-0). Of the 18 arrows fired by the Habs, 17 hit the middle of the target. They were almost untouchable.

This Saturday, Lisa Barbelin covered herself in gold. Graduated from Riom, the archer became European individual recurve champion, beating the Italian Vanessa Landi in the final (6-4; 29-28, 29-29, 28-29, 29-29, 29-28).
