KOMPAS.com – The Indonesian boxer Tibo Monabesa has made a brilliant achievement. Tibo successfully defended his WBC International light flyweight boxing title after defeating his opponent from the Philippines, Jayson Vayson.
Tibo Monabesa’s victory over Jayson Vayson was obtained in the boxing duel which was held at Holywings Gatsu Club V, Jakarta, Sunday (27/2/2022) night WIB.
Defeating Jayson Vayson in the WBC International lightweight flying (48.9 kg) title fight was not an easy task for Tibo Monabesa.
Reported from Between, Tibo Monabesa who is now 31 years old had fallen twice. However, Tibo was able to get up and subdue Jayson Vayson via a numerical victory.
Based on the results of the match, the three judges in charge of giving the victory to Tibo Monabesa.
With this victory, Tibo Monabesa also managed to defend the WBC International light flyweight championship belt.

Tibo Monabesa’s Boxing Career Journey
Tibo Monabesa is a man born in Oelbubuk, East Nusa Tenggara, 10 June 1990.
Before plunging into the world of professional boxing, Tibo worked as an angkot driver. This was revealed by Tibo’s coach and promoter, Armin Tan.
Armin Tan found Tibo Monabesa when Tibo was still an angkot driver.
“At that time he was still an angkot driver in Jakarta. And, I told him, I will make you world champion. And last night it was proven,” said Armin Tan after Tibo’s victory over Australian boxer, Omari Kimweri, in 2019, as quoted from Between.
Tibo Monabesa started his professional boxing career at the age of 23. He made his debut against fellow national boxer, Benigno Nino.
In his first professional match, Tibo successfully won.
After playing his debut party, Tibo carved an impressive record. He is unbeaten in the next 19 fights, where his worst result was a draw against Domi Nenokeba (Indonesia) and Arnold Garde (Philippines).
On July 7, 2019, Tibo Monabesa successfully won the International Boxing Organization (IBO) light flyweight title after defeating Omari Kimweri in a duel held at the Oepoi GOR, Kupang City.

Tibo Monabesa who has the nickname Il Duce also made history as the first son of East Nusa Tenggara who was able to win an international boxing championship belt.
Two years later, Tibo again made a brilliant achievement. This time, he managed to hold the WBC International light flyweight championship belt.
Tibo won the WBC International light flyweight title after defeating the Filipino boxer, Toto Landero, in a fight held at Balai Sarbini Convention Hall, Jakarta, April 14, 2021.
Then this year, at the first opportunity to defend the WBC International light flyweight championship belt, Tibo managed to beat Jayson Vayson.
Not only defending the WBC International championship belt, the victory over Jayson Vayson also made Tibo Monabesa now record 22 wins (8 KOs), 1 loss, and 2 draws.
