“I have always believed that the sport of American football is an ‘all inclusive’ proposition: if there is not a 100% competitive commitment, you will not succeed, and success is what I like most about our game,” wrote the legendary quarterback on Twitter. “Each day has been a physical, mental and emotional challenge that has allowed me to reach my full potential.
And I’ve done my best these past 22 years. There are no shortcuts to success on the field or in life..
“It’s hard for me to write this, but here it goes: I will not compete anymore. I have loved my career in the NFL, and now is the time to focus my time and energy on other things that require my attention.”
On Saturday, the football world was turned upside down after the network ESPN inform the withdrawal of the athlete who is considered best player in NFL history, with an exceptional career (winner of seven Super Bowls) and a long life (22 years on the pitch). Other media assured then that Brady had not yet decided.
But after his announcement, the NFL loses its best player, a guy who won six rings in twenty seasons with the New England Patriots, before adding the seventh in 2021 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
A record athlete, named five-time Super Bowl MVP and three-time regular season MVP, who has the most successful touchdowns (624), passing yards (84,520) and wins in the regular season (243), says goodbye to the NFL universe.
