Last weekend Tottenham impressed with a nice 2-3 win on the field of national champions Manchester City, but last night it went completely wrong again.
20 minutes before the end, Ben Mee gave relegation candidate Burnley the lead, it would remain with that one goal at Turf Moor. Tottenham have lost 4 of their last 5 Premier League matches.
“I can’t just let things like this pass me by,” said an emotive Antonio Conte afterwards. “It’s not good for anyone to keep losing like this, it’s unacceptable.”
Conte himself questioned his own abilities as a coach: “It’s the first time in my life that I lost 4 in 5 games. Maybe I’m not as good as people say.”
“I don’t just want to end my season with a nice salary. That’s not how I am. I have a lot of ambition, but we play as if we are relegated. Something is wrong and I want to take responsibility. Something is not right about this moment.”
“The club will have to make an evaluation and discuss my future,” Conte concluded.
