Moldova club Sheriff Tiraspol was THE surprise in the Champions League last year. In the group stage, the club managed a sensational 2-1 victory over the great Real Madrid, before that the team won against Shakhtar Donetsk (2-0).

In the wake of the Russian war of aggression, Ukraine-born Vernydub is now arming himself for battle five months after the biggest success of his career. This shows a photo that the sports medium “Zorya Londonsk” posted on Twitter.

They wrote: “Sheriff Tiraspol’s coach Yuriy Vernydub is ready! He defeated Real Madrid in the autumn. Now he is also involved in territorial defense.”

In the group stage of the premier class, Sheriff could only take third place in the end, but qualified for the intermediate round of the Europa League. Here, Portugal club Braga were beaten 2-0 in the first leg.
