KOMPAS.com – Uruguay managed to win when they hosted Venezuela in the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers Conmebol zone or South America.
The Uruguay vs Venezuela match took place at the Estadio Centenario, Tuesday (1/2/2022) local time or Wednesday morning WIB.
Playing in front of their own supporters, Uruguay won the match 4-1.
La Celeste, the nickname for the Uruguayan national team, managed to score three goals in the first half through goals scored by Rodrigo Bentancur (1′), Giorgian De Arrascaeta (23′), Edinson Cavani (45+1′).

Then in the second half, Uruguay added a goal through Luis Suarez via a penalty kick in the 53rd minute.
The Venezuelan visitors were only able to break into Uruguay’s goal in the 65th minute, through Jose Andres Martinez.
Jose Martinez’s goal became the cover in the second half. The score 4-1 became the final result of the match for Uruguay’s victory.

This result makes the Uruguay national team keep hope of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup.
An additional three points thanks to the victory over Venezuela makes Uruguay now in fourth place in the 2022 World Cup standings in the South American zone.

Uruguay now has 22 points from 16 matches, two points ahead of Peru who are below them.
However, Uruguay’s position can still be shifted if Peru manages to beat Ecuador which will only compete on Wednesday (2/2/2022) at 09.00 WIB.
As for the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers for the South American zone, there are only two games left.
Looking at the standings, Ecuador, Uruguay, Peru, Chile, Colombia still have the same chance to reach the finals.
However, only the top four teams will qualify automatically for the 2022 World Cup in South America.
Meanwhile, the fifth-placed team enters the round playoff against the Asian confederation team.
Brazil and Argentina are countries that have already ensured automatic qualification for the 2022 World Cup.
