Rediscovered: it is the volume “Sport in the stamp”, signed by Editalia in 1988. Two authors: Mario Corte for the technical aspects and Gennaro Angiolino for the philatelic ones
It is one of those encyclopedic books signed by Editalia in the Eighties (to be precise, 1988): large format, abundance of images also in color and in this case 304 pages. A new copy was found by the Vaccari company, which is now offering it for € 25.00.
The protagonist is “Sport in the stamp”, where the texts on the disciplines were edited by Mario Corte while the philatelic aspects are the result of Gennaro Angiolino. Because – we read on the opening page wanted by the publisher – “stamps have always entered the heart of the game, announcing and narrating, increasing the expectation and reviving the memory of an Olympics, a World Championship or, more simply, a championship won by his favorite team ”.
Four macro topics covered: the historical evolution of the various activities, the modern Games, the major events at the stadium such as athletics and football, the role of the values (from international exhibitions to other competitions, and then dwell on the individual specialties, including motor racing , petanque and bowling, horse riding, judo, water polo, polo, weight lifting, diving).
