What did you miss?

Under the slogan ‘The night is rising’, nightclubs have protested the closures in the past two years. Nightclubs have been forced to close for almost the entire corona period. Not all nightclubs took part due to the threat of penalties. The night passed without major problems for most of the clubs that did participate.

As far as is known, the first fine that was handed out went to the Tilburg pop stage 013. That club has to pay a penalty of 10,000 euros because the doors were open after 10 p.m. in violation of the corona rules. The party continued after that. There were still a lot of people standing at the box office for a while who wanted to buy a ticket, but the evening was already sold out.

Other news from the night:

  • Six injured in traffic accident De Mortel, driver arrested: All six have been taken to hospital. Two of them are in bad shape. Footage shows that the vehicle was heavily damaged. The car hit a bend in the road around 10:30 p.m. and overturned.
  • UN workers kidnapped in Yemen, believed to be by al-Qaida: Yemeni authorities say they were taken in southern Abyan province and are now housed in an unknown location. The kidnappers are believed to be members of the Al-Qaida terrorist group.
  • Sleper was sixteenth after the first two Olympic monobob runs: with a time of 2.12.47 she only kept four participants behind. It is the first time that monobob sledding is on the Olympic program. Only the women complete the song, to promote gender equality at the Games. The men also already have the four-man bob part.

And then this:

Because it was not possible to scare protesters away from the New Zealand parliament by spraying them wet, music has been used for several days. About loudspeakers is constant easy listening music by Barry Manilow (Mandy, Copacabana) or is the Macarena turned.

Inspired by the protests in Canada, several hundred people have been camping on the grass in front of the building since Tuesday. As large-scale arrests created a grim atmosphere, authorities tried to disperse the crowd by turning on the sprinklers. “If we make it uncomfortable for them, they might go home,” was the reasoning of the parliament speaker.

However, the protesters dug ditches to drain the water. They also had an answer to the music: the song We’re not gonna take it from Twisted Sister is played towards parliament.
