Bad luck with injuries has hit FC Bayern again in the past few weeks. With Manuel Neuer, Leon Goretzka and Alphonso Davies, three top performers have been out for a long time. Thomas Müller, Kingsley Coman and Corentin Tolisso were also not available for Julian Nagelsmann at short notice. The “kicker” has now delivered a major personnel update.
Kingsley Coman
Kingsley Coman complained about calf problems after the Champions League round of 16 in Salzburg. The Frenchman had to pass in the 4-1 win against Greuther Fürth. On Wednesday, however, the 25-year-old returned to team training and will most likely be back in the away game in Frankfurt next Saturday.
Alphonso Davies
Alphonso Davies is also looking good. The Canadian had to take a break in recent weeks due to heart muscle inflammation. As the “kicker” reports, the 21-year-old will be examined again in detail on Friday. He could then get the go-ahead from the doctors and resume that (individual training).
Manuel Neuer
Everything is going according to plan for Bayern captain Manuel Neuer after his knee surgery in early February. The 35-year-old resumed running training this week and, according to the “kicker”, could be working with his teammates again next week.
The trade journal expects the keeper to make his comeback before the international break, on March 19 against Union Berlin. However, a match against FC Salzburg in the round of 16 second leg seems unlikely.
Leon Goretzka
While Neuer has an end to his downtime in sight, Leon Goretzka doesn’t really have anything new to report. The midfielder is still suffering from patellar tendon pain and is only able to train to a limited extent. A comeback date is still open. The 26-year-old has been missing from the record champions for almost three months.
Corentin Tolisso
Corentin Tolisso tore a muscle fiber last weekend and will be absent from Bayern for several weeks. According to “kicker” information, Bayern expect a forced break of three weeks.
Thomas Müller
The 32-year-old offensive player tested positive for Corona yesterday and is in domestic isolation. The original Bayern will definitely miss the away game against Eintracht Frankfurt. However, if everything goes according to plan, he can test himself again early next week and then immediately start team training again.
