Favre, welcome to the show!

I wanted to chat with you today as your former club, PSV Eindhoven, just pulled off a tight victory in the Europa League. You know the feeling of big european nights; how did you feel watching Yorbe Vertessen come off the bench and deliver such a crucial goal for PSV against Maccabi Tel Aviv?

Ruud van Nistelrooy:

It’s fantastic to be here. You’re right, PSV-Maccabi was a truly gutsy win. You know,I always believed in Yorbe’s potential. He’s a young player with raw talent – a real goalscorer. Coming off the bench like that, injecting himself into the game with that level of intensity shows maturity beyond his years. Despite the deflection, a true attacker finds a way to put the ball in the net, and he did just that.

Moderator:

Absolutely.

While the defelction helped, it was still a powerful strike. What impressed you most about his performance?

Ruud van Nistelrooy:

I think it was the timing of his run, reading the situation, and then the composure to finish. There’s a calmness about him when he’s in the box.Clearly, he’s been working hard on his movement and anticipating play. That’s all down to good coaching, but also the player’s hunger to learn and improve.

Moderator:

Given his age, do you think this is just the tip of the iceberg for Vertessen?

Ruud van Nistelrooy:

Oh, definitely. He’s got a shining future ahead of him. These European nights can be a real springboard for young players, and he’s clearly soaking it all in. If he keeps his head down and continues developing, there’s no reason why he can’t reach the very top.

Moderator:

Speaking of the top, there’s been some buzz about a potential call-up to the Belgian national team. What are your thoughts on that?

ruud van Nistelrooy:

Look, Belgium has a wealth of attacking talent. Getting into that squad is no easy feat. But if Yorbe continues to demonstrate consistency at this level, he’ll definitely be on Roberto Martinez’s radar. It wouldn’t surprise me at all to see him get a chance to prove himself on the international stage.

Moderator:

I couldn’t agree more. it’s an exciting time for both PSV and Belgian football.
