Young Judo Competitors Earn Experience and a Medal at First Tournament

Young Judo Stars Represent Saint-Alban at Regional Tournament

The Saint-Alban Judo club made its mark at the recent regional youth judo tournament held in Réalmont, Tarn on February 19th. Led by their dedicated coach, Anne-Marie Teissandier, three promising athletes – Louis Teissandier (-26 kg), Mathys Nemeth (-30 kg), and Marine Teissandier (-32 kg) – took on the challenge of competing at this high-caliber event.

This tournament marked a notable milestone for the young judokas, representing their first foray into regional competition. While victory eluded them this time, the experience proved invaluable.They demonstrated resilience and determination, gaining crucial insights into the demands of high-level competition. This experience will undoubtedly fuel their training and drive them to further refine their skills.

Louis Teissandier, showcasing his talent and tenacity, secured a well-deserved bronze medal, highlighting the club’s potential on the regional stage.

The Saint-Alban Judo Club’s journey continues with the upcoming departmental competition scheduled for March 20th in Marvejols. This will serve as another stepping stone towards the regional phase, set to take place on April 2nd, also in Marvejols. With their sights set on improvement and fueled by the experience gained at the Réalmont tournament, these young athletes are poised to make a lasting impression in the world of judo.

Anne-Marie Teissandier: It was an astounding learning opportunity for them. While victory wasn’t ours this time, the sheer exposure to high-level competition was invaluable. The atmosphere was electric, and facing experienced opponents pushed them to their limits. I’m immensely proud of their resilience and determination—they never gave up.

Moderator: Louis Teissandier’s bronze medal was a highlight! How do you think this success will impact the team’s morale and future performance?

Anne-Marie Teissandier: Louis’s achievement is a testament to his hard work and talent.seeing him on that podium definately boosts the team spirit. It shows them what’s possible with dedication and perseverance. We’ll use this momentum to fuel our training for the upcoming departmental and regional competitions.

Moderator: This tournament marked the first stage in a competitive journey. Can you share your perspective on the club’s long-term strategy and aspirations?

Anne-Marie Teissandier: Our primary goal is to nurture a love for judo in thes young athletes. We want them to develop discipline, respect, and sportsmanship alongside their Judo skills. Of course, we aim for success at competitions, but ultimately, we want to see them grow as individuals both on and off the mat.

Moderator: With the departmental competition approaching, what are your expectations for the team?

Anne-Marie Teissandier: We’re taking it one step at a time. The departmental competition is another chance to test their skills and gain experience. I trust they will continue to show enhancement and learn from each encounter. The ultimate goal is to qualify for the regional championships in April, and we’re working hard towards that.
