Guanyu Zhou is looking forward to his official Formula 1 debut with the Alfa Romeo team. The Chinese driver says he has received a lot of energy from the hard work of his new team and that he is ready for his new challenge.
Zhou raced in Formula 2 last season, where he eventually finished third in the standings. He finished nine points behind second-place Robert Shwartzman and 69.5 points behind champion Oscar Piastri. That third place earned Zhou enough super license points to officially get his super license. He will be allowed to join the Alfa Romeo team next season, with which he will officially become the very first Chinese Formula 1 driver in the history of the sport.
Zhou is ready for his debut
Although you would think that this puts a lot of pressure on his shoulders, Zhou is especially happy that he can step in. “I am fully ready for the season. Seeing the C42 in the livery I will be racing in definitely makes it real,” Zhou said. “We are at the beginning of a new era, with new cars and new regulations, and this creates an opportunity for all teams to progress as we are all starting from scratch.”

“Everyone at Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN has been incredibly helpful since I joined. Seeing all the hard work, commitment and motivation of everyone, in Hinwil and on the track, fills me with pride and enthusiasm. I can’t wait to be on the grid with this car and work with my team to achieve the results we strive for together,” said the new Alfa Romeo driver.
