By 10 am on the day of the 20th presidential election, the turnout was 11.8%. Compared to the same time period (14.1%) of the 19th presidential election in 2017, it was 2.3%p lower.
According to the National Election Commission on the 9th, 5,197,308 (11.8%) of 44,197,692 voters across the country had completed their voting as of 10 am on the 9th. The results of the early voting held on the 4th and 5th (36.93% voter turnout) will be counted from 1pm.
By region, Daegu was the highest in the country with 13.8%. Daegu has continued to show the highest turnout in the nation since voting began. Jeju (12.9%) Gyeonggi (12.6%) Gyeongnam (12.2%) Chungnam (12.2%) Ulsan (12.1%) Daejeon (12.0%) showed a 12% turnout. 11.2% in Seoul and 11.3% in Busan. Ordinary voters can vote at a polling place designated by their residence with their ID card between 6 am and 6 pm on the 9th. People who have been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and quarantined can vote from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, after general voters have finished voting.
