3 Michoacans qualify for the 2022 Junior Badminton Pan American Games

MORELIA, Mich., March 01, 2022.- The discipline of badminton in Michoacán continues with positive steps. After the participation of the Michoacan team in the National Children’s Championship, three of its racket players were selected to represent Mexico in the 2022 Junior Pan American Games, to be held in the Dominican Republic next July.

During the weekend in Temixco, Morelos, the national specialty was held, an event that served as a qualifier for the Pan American with the participation of exponents from 12 states of the Mexican Republic, including: Jalisco, Veracruz, Baja California, Ciudad de Mexico, Guanajuato, Nuevo León, Morelos, Michoacán and among others.

From Michoacán, a total of seven players attended: Sofía Alcántara; Mateo Pacheco, Diego Bautista, Rogelio Loeza, Valentina Marín, Paola Pacheco and Iván Mora. All of them from Morelia and under the guidance of coach Cynthia González.

In what was the first attendance of athletes from Michoacan to a selective process towards the Pan American, it was confirmed that Paola Pacheco, Valentina Fuentes and Iván Mora, will make up the national representative who will travel to said Caribbean country. Also, Diego Bautista and Rogelio Loeza, are waiting as substitutes in the selection (in case any selected cannot attend the Pan American).

The results achieved in Temixco, held from February 25 to 27, are consecrated as the best badminton participation in Michoacán, since the beginning of training on the court of the Cecufid Carlos Espinosa de los Monteros Auditorium.
