The Lilatón returns on Sunday. And there will be 5,000 women who will gather on the San Sebastian Boulevard to take the start at 10:30 am in this popular five-kilometre race that reaches its 32nd edition and continues to claim equality.

This sporting event for which there are no longer any numbers available has been presented at the San Sebastián City Council. “In 2020, the Lilatón was one of the last sporting events that could be played before the pandemic came into our lives,” recalled Martín Ibabe, Donostiarra’s Councilor for Sports. The mayor also wanted to thank Atlético San Sebastián -organizer of the race- for his work and insisted on highlighting the capital of Gipuzkoa as «a reference for women’s sport at the state level. The Lilatón also encourages many women to practice sports».

Goizane Álvarez, Director of Sports for the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council, continued along these lines: “Women from different generations and even cultures will come together on Sunday through the streets of San Sebastian. Some will seek victory. For others, however, the goal will be to reach the finish line.
