Los Angeles (AP) – Basketball superstar LeBron James led the Los Angeles Lakers to a 124:116 (62:67) win over the Golden State Warriors with 56 points.
The 37-year-old equaled Trae Young’s NBA season record and helped the Lakers to their first win after four straight losses.
James scored 16 points in the final nine minutes of the game alone, hitting three three-pointers in 76 seconds. With 34 seconds to go, James served his teammate Carmelo Anthony for the ultimately decisive three-pointer. The Lakers turned the game around with a 35-22 in the final quarter.
“There really are no words for that. An incredible performance by the best player ever,” said Lakers coach Frank Vogel about James’ performance. “He was phenomenal,” said Anthony. It was the third-highest scoring tally in James’ 19-year NBA career, his best is 61 points.
Defeat for the Wagner brothers
The brothers Franz and Moritz Wagner suffered a 96:124 (45:68) defeat at the Memphis Grizzlies with the Orlando Magic. Due to a weak second quarter, the guests were 23 points behind at the break. Moritz Wagner scored his first so-called double-double of the season with 17 points and eleven rebounds and achieved double-digit values in two statistics. The 24-year-old returned to the Orlando squad after recovering from a rib injury and missing nine games. Franz Wagner got 15 points.
