Borussia Dortmund’s U19s are in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Youth League. Coach Mike Tullberg’s team defeated the Under-19s Manchester United 3-1 on penalties. After 90 minutes it was 2:2 (1:1).

Only for the second time since the Youth League was introduced did BVB qualify for the Round of 16. Opponents Manchester United, equipped with a number of internationals and players with professional experience, went into the game as favourites. Youssoufa Moukoko was registered for the Youth League, but stayed with coach Marco Rose.

The hosts around the Tunisian international Hannibal Mejbri also set the tone for other stretches of the game. But Dortmund initially took the lead with a goal from Jamie Bynoe-Gittens (16′). Just a few minutes later, United equalized through Charlie McNeill (23′).

After that, United set the pace. Striker Garnacho hit the net twice but was called off for offside. Out of nowhere Bynoe-Gittens (68th) scored the lead for Dortmund again. Rhys Bennett brought the hosts back into play just before the end.

In the penalty shoot-out that followed, Dortmund goalkeeper Silas Ostrzinski became the hero with two saved penalties.

In the parallel game, Paris-Saint Germain defeated FC Sevilla 2-0.
