Sports commentators sometimes forget to turn off their microphones and, thinking that no one can hear them, let them kiss and, for example, tell their lungs what they think about the ongoing match. We also know such cases from the Czech environment. Now a similar “faux pas” has taken place at the end of the broadcast of the doubles race at the figure skating championship.
British commentators Simon Reed and Nicky Slater have been unflatteringly addressing Pyongyang’s Olympic gold medalist Meagan Duhamel, who has been referred to as the “b * tch from Canada.” coach and expert, criticized, among other things, for their unprofessional commentary and for expressing regret over the non-participation of Russian athletes in the championship.
The International Skating Union (ISU) has pushed for both commentators to be suspended and never comment on any future ISU events. “The ISU is shocked by the language used by both commentators, which does not reflect its views at all. The ISU strongly condemns any statements of a discriminatory or biased nature, “the figure skating organization said in a statement on Twitter.
Following the Pairs Short Program at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2022, an open mic picked up a disrespectful comment made by the two commentators working on the international signal.

The two-time world champion then wrote on her Twitter that Reed had personally apologized for his statement and considered the case closed. She also said that she made no effort to get the announcers fired, but only hoped for a respectful comment that would provide education and insight into her sport.
Skating twitter, I hope we all enjoy some amazing skating today. I have received personal apologies from Simon Reed and the ISU president and I don’t think a public apology is necessary at this point. I appreciate and respect their apologies ❤️
