A former Paris SG striker had to have his right leg amputated

A tribute was paid on Sunday March 13 during PSG – Bordeaux (Ligue 1) to Bruno Rodriguez, the former PSG striker who had to have his right leg amputated.

It was his friend and ex-teammate Jimmy Algerino who revealed the information to our colleagues at Parisian : the former striker of Paris SG Bruno Rodriguez had his right leg amputated on Tuesday March 8 in a clinic in Nancy (Meurthe-et-Moselle).

Many infiltrations

Now 49, the ex-professional (Monaco, Bastia, Strasbourg, Metz, Lens, Bradford, Guingamp, Ajaccio, Clermont, Rayo Vallecano and therefore PSG), who totaled 259 matches for 76 goals, had suffered since long years of ankle pain due to numerous infiltrations carried out during his career in order to relieve his sprains.

Despite several operations in the past five years, the suffering persisted and had become unbearable. The former striker had even suffered a benign tumor in his right ankle, which prompted the medical profession to opt for amputation.

Bruno Rodriguez will forever remain a PSG legend for his decisive goal at the end of the game against Olympique de Marseille. It was in 1999…
