Replaced at the foot of the steps of the Cannes Film Festival by BMW, the French manufacturer Renault will itself take the place of another benchmark in the automotive market, Peugeot, by becoming a partner of the Roland-Garros tennis tournament. A meeting whose next edition will be held at Porte d’Auteuil from May 22 to June 5, 2022.
Sidelined on the Croisette, Renault thus achieves a good catch with the Parisian tournament, whose chic and glamorous image is well established, the event attracting more and more VIPs each year. Partner of the French internationals at Roland-Garros since 1984, Peugeot has also benefited for several decades from this close collaboration to multiply the special series of its models (205, 405, 306, etc.).
If the information is not yet official (it should be in the next few days), it confirms the withdrawal of Peugeot from the world of tennis since at the same time, Peugeot, which belongs to the Stellantis group, wished to end to the contract linking the manufacturer to the former world number one, the Serbian Novak Djokovic. A decision which follows in particular the controversy created by the player on the occasion of the Australian Open, and his incredible expulsion from the country.
