Alberto Gamero desire to reach Millionaires, infidences and goals with players | Colombian Soccer | Betplay League

In dialogue with Win Sports, Alberto Gamero He was honest about the desires he always had to lead the ambassador team, revealed infidelities of the current squad and made his goals clear.

Desire to lead to blue – Directing Millonarios was always an obsession of mine because I played here in 88′, 89′, 90, 91′. It was always a wish and it cost me a lot. I always tried to do my best in the different teams where I was so that one day I would have the opportunity in Millionaires. It has been something big, important for me and much more so when I have my family here. I was always wandering around various parts without living with them, and this year I have completed three years here at Millonarios and with my family.

Ambassador fan family – My daughters are fans of Millonarios and they always had that desire that one day it would come to Bogotá. I feel like it’s a bigger responsibility.

sports project – When I arrived at Millonarios we spoke with Dr. Serpa and Dr. Camacho. They proposed a project to me to find out if I would accept it or not. What they wanted was something different from what had been happening for a long time at the club: not bring so many people and give grassroots football a chance. I realized in the U-20 final against Tolima that there were interesting players there. I committed to this project, although it was not easy because playing with young players is complicated. Unfortunately the first year did not go as we wanted, however we scored 30 points and that’s when I realized that we could do important things. If you notice, a large number of players came out. Since I’ve been here, 30-35 players have left and more have come from grassroots football than from reinforcements and it seems to me that everything has been complemented by players who have believed in their abilities and the confidence that they have been given.}

Divisions less than professional – I have always asked the coaches of the lower divisions that when a player comes here to Millonarios they explain to him which team he comes to, explain who has passed through here, explain how many stars there are. That is essential.

Swollen albiazul and mentality – What works the most for them is that they should know that Millonarios has a very large fan base, not only in Colombia but also internationally, because when we have gone abroad we have seen that fan base as well. The first thing I have worked on is to lose that fear, fear of playing wherever they go. We are looking for a proactive team that loses the fear of losing and goes out to win everywhere. We work a lot on that mental part, knowing where they are, who they are and what the goals are. When I arrived it was difficult for us to make the player see where he was and little by little they have understood.

Group Defensive Commitment – The teams always defend with 10, not with 11 because the goalkeeper covers. One of the defenders usually sends them to defend, but the forwards send them back, retreat, occupying a space. Many times a player steals the ball by occupying space, cutting off a passing lane and not just scoring. European teams do.

Management of Daniel Ruíz – Here many times they have asked me why I put Daniel to defend and it is because I want him to go to Europe, there they will ask him for that. I tell them that I deceive them if I ask them to attack and not defend because when they go to Europe, which is what one wants, they are going to demand that of them and we must demand it from here.

Mackalister leadership – He is a leader on the pitch, a coach. It’s not that he does what he wants to do, he does what the coach believes and wants to do. He sees that I tell the winger to attack me from the inside, when he listens he goes and reminds him of the winger.

Group management – You have to know the genius of the player, here there are bad-tempered, cheerful, happy players. Last week when we arrived from Brazil, I didn’t see Silva with that joy that he has. I pushed him aside and told him ‘Silva, I didn’t like the way we trained today’, he told me ‘teacher, I ran’, I replied ‘no, I saw that you ran, but I didn’t see your joy and you as captain me can’t get to me like that’. He was surprised thinking that I hadn’t seen him running. Not everything happens there. I know how Silva is: he arrives early, he is the last one to leave, he is happy, he is the father of many here.
