Young Judokas from Omnia Sporting Aim for national Glory
Four promising judokas from the Alcamo-based Omnia Sporting club are set to represent Sicily at the Italian Cadet Judo Championships. The prestigious event, taking place at the PalaPellicone in Ostia Lido (Rome) on March 5th and 6th, will see the young athletes compete against the best in the country. These talented individuals, all under the age of fifteen and trained by the esteemed maestro Cristina Cianti, secured their spots at the national finals after impressive performances at the regional championships held on February 20th. Marco Cusimano (up to 55 kg), Stefano D’Angelo (66 kg), and Ivan Manno (50 kg) will proudly wear the Omnia Sporting colors in the cadet category.
Omnia Sporting’s success extends beyond these three athletes. The club achieved a commendable second-place finish in the team competition at the regional championships. Salvatore quartararo, who placed second in the 50 kg category, narrowly missed out on a national berth due to regulations limiting the number of qualifiers per region. Andrea Cataldo also contributed to the team’s success, securing a respectable seventh place in the 60 kg category.
This isn’t the first time Omnia Sporting has produced national-level talent. Cristiano Grimaudo,a former student of maestro Cianti, achieved remarkable success in the Italian Debutant Championship between 2014 and 2015,earning a silver and bronze medal. Grimaudo’s achievements highlight the club’s commitment to nurturing young talent and its potential to produce future Olympic hopefuls.
With a strong track record and a dedicated coaching staff, Omnia Sporting’s young judokas are poised to make a significant impact at the Italian Cadet Judo Championships. Their journey exemplifies the dedication and passion that drive young athletes to strive for excellence on the national stage.
