Algeria asks to play-off again against Cameroon

The Algerian authorities announced that they had made a official appeal to FIFA against what they described as theoutrageous arbitrage which distorted the result of the second leg of qualifying ai Qatar 2002 World Cup against the Cameroon and they asked for the game to be replayed. This was announced by a press release from Algerian Football Federation (FAF).

Bennacer’s national team was beaten last Tuesday by Cameroon 1-2, in the second leg of the qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, played at the Mustapha Tchaker stadium in Blida, south of the capital, after winning the first leg 0- 1. The press release indicates that the Algerian Football Association is determined to activate all legally authorized means to restore its rights and to replay the game under conditions that guarantee the integrity and impartiality of the arbitration.

The same source specified that the Algerian Federation requests an investigation by the FIFA authorities to shed light on refereeing of the Algeria-Cameroon match. After the defeat and elimination of the team of coach Djamel Belmadi, the Algerian fans have vented their anger against the Gambian referee, Bakary Gassama.

According to a post by Algerian fans widely shared on social platforms, Gassama has canceled a valid goal for striker Islam Slimani, did not call at least a penaltye did not use the VAR on the occasion of the first Cameroon network.

According to state TV, the president of the Algerian Federation, Charafeddine Amara, and all members of his office, will resign this afternoon, following the failure to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar.
