After the presentation in the classic against Cali in Palmaseca, América has received good criticism for the attitude that the team had, holding out for more than 45 minutes with two fewer players on the pitch. One of the standouts in the defensive back was center back John García, who analyzed what the group had done in a new edition of the Valle del Cauca classic.
“First I have to congratulate my teammates, I think the whole squad is in good harmony and tonic. We rethink after having passed a difficult moment and from which we are learning, working daily. We had the courage to definitely compete when we found ourselves with two men less, we knew that we had to give up the attack with the result in our favor and we had to defend each ball with our lives”.
He mentioned that they have worked on these situations in training: “they added many men to the attack, we had already worked on those possibilities of seeing ourselves with two fewer men and we knew how we had to defend the position on the field, how far we can go, what we could do and what were the options that we had against the rival, that we had at the time. We have made mistakes, we are not oblivious to it, we are self-critical, but we have been correcting, we hope and work so that day by day we improve those shortcomings on the pitch”.
He spoke of the harmony that exists within the group and gave his initial analysis of Medellín, his next Copa Sudamericana rival: “no one enjoys such a situation and we find ourselves growing, improving and we have a very united group with all the people who are within, of a very beautiful friendship, all pulling the bow to the same side, we have had moments that have not been good for us and we are getting out of it, working to always be ahead, to be protagonists and although our game is not so much defend ourselves as it touched us.
