DThe end of a relationship that by no means lasted what some of those involved had promised two years ago came earlier than expected: Andreas Möller and Eintracht will part ways this Thursday. On April 1, the club will complete the change in management originally planned for the summer in its youth academy (NLZ).
At the request of the employer, the employee Möller will vacate his post and make room for his successor Alexander Richter. The 51-year-old comes from VfL Bochum – and is considered the ideal candidate for the responsible post in Riederwald, where the quality of training is to be increased in the future so that more talented people can make it into the professional squad.
Möller’s contract, which expired in the summer, had not been extended – officially at the instigation of the former national player, who announced that he wanted to “devote himself primarily to private things again”. Möller was appointed in autumn 2019 at the instigation of Fredi Bobic, who has since moved on to Hertha BSC and then lured the former Frankfurt youth coaches Jerome Polenz and Thomas Broich to the Spree.
Bobic had campaigned for Möller, whose return was viewed with skepticism by numerous fans. The 54-year-old was a thorn in their side because he had made disparaging remarks about Eintracht after his active career. When he took office, Möller announced that he would improve his reputation with deeds. It’s over after less than three years.
