The Salaspils Sports School team won the Latvian women’s handball championship in the next game. In the Regional Basketball League, the basketball players of Mārupe Sports Center have finished the season with a loss and the last place in the tournament table.
The handball players of Salaspils Sports School met with the Latvian youth team (born in 2006) and won a rather tense fight. At the end of the first half, the islanders had a five-goal lead (16:11), but ten minutes later the result was a draw again (17:17). In the second half, the opponents played a four-goal deficit (22:18), and for another five minutes until the end the balance was 25:25. At the end, however, the handball players of Salaspils were more accurate, who celebrated the victory at 27:25. The most successful in their ranks were Anastasia Agarkova with 11 accurate shots and Renāte Salmane with five.
In the table of the Premier League tournament, Salaspils Sports School takes the second place – 18 points in 13 games. REIR / Dobele sports school handball players have the same score, but they have played two less games. Ludza Sports Club “Latgols” lags behind the two leaders, but the team of Stopiņi Parish with four points in 10 matches is in the penultimate seventh position and lags far behind the first six units.
The basketball players of Mārupe Sports Center ended the season in the Regional Basketball League on Sunday evening with an away game against the BJBS “Riga / Juniors” team. Opponents made a 9-0 breakthrough in the middle of the second quarter and finished the first half with 48:37 in their favor, but in the third quarter, the Marupe team broke the gap to a minimum (57:58). In the middle of the fourth quarter, the competitors were divided by only four points, but then in a few minutes the Rigans gained a 15-point lead (80:65) and caused a loss of 82:93 to Mārupe basketball players.
Roberts Porietis scored 25 points in favor of Marupis, Richard Alex Survillo and Ronalds Ginters each scored 13 points. They ended the season with four victories in 20 games and the last 11th place in the Western Group tournament.
It has already been reported that the basketball players of Salaspils Sports School remained in the last place in the Eastern group, and the only representatives of Pieriga who entered the elimination tournament are the basketball club “Ādaži / Carnikava”. According to the Latvian Basketball Union, the players in the East ranked seventh and will compete in the semi-finals with the second best team of the Western group BC “Jaunpils”, which has won 15 games in 20 games of this season.
In turn, the opponents of the basketball club “Ķekava” in the semi-finals of the National Basketball League will obviously be the fourth strongest unit of the second group BC “Līvāni”.
