The City Council of Arganda del Rey, through its Department of Equality and Diversity, and in collaboration with the Women’s Council and local entities and associations, has prepared different activities to commemorate March 8, International Women’s Day .
On this occasion, the events will take place from March 3 to 26 and the presentation of the program of activities will take place on Monday 7 at 6:00 p.m. in the central courtyard of the Municipal Services Company of Arganda (Esmar), when it will also be inaugurated the exhibition ‘The road to Equality, an essential history’, which can be visited until March 31.
Previously, the programming included a Heard Poetry session dedicated to Giaconda Belli this Thursday, March 3, at 8:00 p.m. at the Pablo Neruda Municipal Library. The same library will be the stage on Saturday 6 at 6:00 p.m. for the presentation of the book ‘La piel incierta’, by Sandra Bruno. Also on Saturday, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the San Gaku Kai Club will organize an Iaido day at the Virgen del Carmen sports center in La Poveda.
On Tuesday, March 8, International Women’s Day, the manifesto prepared by the Women’s Council to commemorate this date will be read at 12 noon in the Plaza de la Constitución. In the afternoon, at 8:00 p.m. in the pavilion of the Ciudad Deportiva Príncipe Felipe, the Municipal Club Gimnasia Rítmica Arganda will carry out a participatory training where girls and mothers of the entity will participate together.
The program will run until March 26, including a meeting between women representatives of different local associations, storytelling for the little ones on Friday 11 and 25 or shows from the project Open from Dusk on March 11 and 26.
On Saturday, March 12 at 8:00 p.m., the Montserrat Caballé Auditorium will host the new show by the Plural Women’s theater group entitled ‘Special Police Station’, with a starting point such as the number of cases of gender violence.
Sport will play a major role with different activities such as the now traditional self-defense event organized by the Arganda Judo Club, a women’s triathlon event prepared by the Arganda Triathlon Club, a women’s 7-a-side football triangular event organized by the Arganda Sports Association or the diving baptisms of the Arganda Diving Club.
The Municipal Libraries will also host various activities, such as the presentation of the book ‘The Teacher’, by Alicia Trejo; a recognition to the local authors; or the different sessions of the local reading clubs. Similarly, they will install the centers of interest ‘March Women’ and ‘Girls who change the world’.
