The Argentine Grand Prix program is completely turned upside down. And there is no question of capricious weather or an incident concerning the Rio Hondo circuit in Argentina. Some of the freight that made the connection between Indonesia, the scene of the last Grand Prix, and Argentina simply did not arrive. A first cargo plane containing parts and motorcycles from official Ducati and satellite teams was stuck in Mombasa, Kenya on Wednesday.
A breakdown of a first cargo plane, it was therefore decided to send back a plane that had already arrived in Tucuman in Argentina to recover the freight but, to make matters worse, this plane also suffered technical damage.
At first, the organizers of the championship regretted that some teams had less time to prepare, but now the deadlines simply do not allow driving. It was therefore necessary to face the facts and in the interests of fairness, it was decided to purely and simply cancel the free practice scheduled for this Friday. More exactly, one session was canceled and the other was moved to Saturday morning.
A priori, the problem should be resolved with the equipment delivered on Friday. “The plane is waiting for a part to get airborne again, with two parts – one shipped from Europe and a backup one shipped from the Middle East – already on the way. The plane is expected to depart tonight (Thursday) and will follow the Mombasa route via Lagos and Brazil, arriving in Tucuman on Friday,” a statement read. It only remains to hope that everything now goes perfectly.
