The second place belonged to 17-year-old Konvalink after a jump on the bridge in Lahti, in which he was defeated only by the Frenchman Marco Heinis. He eventually finished third 16 seconds behind the winner.
“It’s amazing. I’m incredibly glad that I ended a great season like this with a great result. Thank you to the whole team,” the satisfied Konvalinka told the Czech Olympic team website despite a close loss in the final. “I’m not sorry either. I’m grateful and I take silver. Honey … I don’t know what to say. I’m very happy for that silver,” he admitted.
The lily of the valley in Finland followed on from Tuesday’s victory for biathlete Petr Hák and the silver cross-country skier Jiří Tuža.
