It is unusual to see the defending champion of a tournament being scheduled on court number 5. Obviously, Cameron Norrie did not appreciate it and let it be known on the microphone of 5 Live Sport after his victory against Pedro Martinez ( 6–3, 6–3).
« I don’t think I was shown any love, and not much respect. In any other tournament, that’s fine. I think the title holder deserves better than the court n°5″bitched on 12e world champion, surprise winner of the Indian Wells Masters 1000 in 2021.
