ATP > Medvedev on the disappearance of the Russian flag: “I hope this measure will be temporary”

The Russians can continue to play and therefore practice their profession on one condition: they are now playing under a neutral banner. The ATP has indeed decided to remove the Russian flag next to the names of Russian players.

Before Indian Wells, the world number 1, Daniil Medvedev, reacted to this news for the media RIA Novosti. “Our task is to develop tennis in the countries from which each of us originate as well as throughout the world. For that, you have to play tennis every week, at every tournament. For now, the only way to continue is to play without a flag, and I will follow this rule. But I hope this measure will be temporary. I’m waiting for the time when we can again carry the flag next to our name, that of the Russian athletes ».

Daniil accepts the “penalty” even if he hopes it won’t last forever.
