After the first leg two weeks ago, Ulm also won the second leg against s.Oliver Würzburg on Friday evening. In a game that was exciting for a long time, ratiopharm ulm convinced on the 23rd matchday, especially in the last quarter. With a strong quota of three (47.8%) and an efficient Karim Jallow (18 points, 8/8 from the field), the second win in a row was achieved. With his 486th BBL appearance, captain Per Günther overtook Chris Ensminger in sixth place in the Bundesliga statistics, which have been kept since 1998.

ratiopharm ulm started the game with Nicolas Bretzel in the center position: The young man from Ulm blocked the attack from Würzburg Stanic in the early minutes. However, the hosts got off to a better start (5:2, 3rd minute of the game). Würzburg was particularly successful in rebounding on the offensive board, while Ulm still struggled to finish from a distance. Jaka Lakovic’s team thought faster in the transition game – but Desi Rodriguez built on his performance in the first leg and kept the lead with his team (9:5, 6th). Then a strong phase in the end: Philipp Herkenhoff stabbed the opponent from the outside. The Ulm forward made room and netted the three (15:12, 8th). Semaj Christon imitated his teammate – but Würzburg remained in the lead at the first quarter break thanks to a solid defense (21:17). Jallow on Blossomgame: The first big highlight of the game went to Ulm with a cracking alley-oop dunk. Fedor Zugic went one better with two shots from downtown – Ulm turned the game around (24:25, 13th). The weight shifted more and more to the side of the guests, Würzburg also found few means to stop the offensive around Zugic and Co. Again and again it was Rodriguez, who controlled the Würzburg attacking game as the central point – the Lower Franconia briefly took the scepter in hand again (38:40). In the final moments of the first half, the game was absolutely balanced, there was hardly any time to breathe. Ulm took a slight advantage into the dressing room (46:47).

As in the second quarter, Ulm got off to a better start in the third period. The defense of the Würzburg was still good, they got a hand in between again and again. Minutes with few points were followed by intense and fast game scenes – the team of head coach Sasa Filipovski led thanks to a run with three points (53:50, 25th). Semaj Christon had the answer to the inefficiency of the Ulm team at the opposing basket, neither team could really break away (59:55). After ten minutes with only a total of 27 points from both teams, it was the final quarter (60:60). The game remained just as exciting as before: Würzburg went on with two attempts, Tommy Klepeisz kept the hosts at bay with a three. The Franks were good in defense, but Klepeisz wanted more. The Austrian national player ran really hot and netted again from outside (69:69, 35th). A 14-0 run by ratiopharm ulm made things clear towards the end: Würzburg lost the ball and left Ulm too much space in the zone (69-80, 38 ‘). The lid was on, because Ulm continued to play in crunch time – head coach Jaka Lakovic and his team won the game 76:88.
