Christophe Courtin, president of Juvibad, notes the strong enthusiasm for badminton. A two-star school with the French Federation, the club, with its 160 members, is gaining momentum. Objective: to build his team 1 in regional.
When was this passion for the bad born?
I have been playing for sixteen years. I practiced badminton at school and it was very addictive. I followed friends to the club of Saint-Georges-d’Orques then I arrived in Juvignac. I was part of the first core of players, I have been president of Juvibad since 2015.
It’s the club’s 20th anniversary. How to explain this success ?
In 2015, we merged our two entities, keeping only the one affiliated with the Federation. Our mission is to accompany all young people, to detect talents, to bring them to important competitions.
Our salaried trainer Théo Duluc as well as two volunteers supervise our teams. Adults also practice both competitively and recreationally. We train at the Jean-Moulin gymnasium.
We have three adult teams and five mixed youth teams in the departmental championships. On April 2 and 3, we are organizing one of our flagship events: the 8th Dung Trophy, in tribute to one of our members who died just 8 years ago and whose 6 family members walked the grounds of our gym. On this occasion, we donate €1 per player registered to the Cancer Research League. Players with a federal license can participate since it is an official competition.
