Badminton Xàtiva wins 15 medals in the Autonomous sub-19 and senior in Teulada

The Xàtiva Badminton Club has returned from the U-19 and Senior Regional Championships with 15 medals. The athletes from Setabense rose with 6 golds, 3 silvers and 6 bronzes in the tournament held last weekend in the Alicante town of Teulada, to which CB Xàtiva attended with 14 players. The nine sub-19s got seven metals: 2 golds, 2 silvers and 3 bronzes; and the five seniors achieved 4 golds, one silver and 3 bronzes.

In the U-19 category, Vicent Polop and Vicent Molina won gold in the men’s doubles, after beating Ferran Llopis and Toni Ivars in the final 14-21, 21-19 and 22-20. The couples formed by Hugo Medina and Jaume Tur, and Marcos and Jesús Cimas also participated. In the women’s doubles, the final was disputed by two pairs made up of players from CB Xàtiva and CB Drop Valencia, with Maria Sanz and Lucia Chorques (this one from Drop) against Andrea Orquín and Sara Sáez (Drop). The victory was for the first by 21-18, 15-21 and 21-17, in a very competitive duel at 43 minutes. With this, Maria and Lucía took the gold and Andrea and Sara with the silver. In the mixed doubles, Vicent Molina and Maria Sanz won silver after losing in the final to Ferran Llopis and Edurne Olmos. In individual, bronze for David Polop and Hugo Medina, in men; and the same metal achieved Andrea Orquín in the feminine.

In the Senior category, Mª José Mompó and Mónica Manrique, from Setabense, from CB San Fernando de València, were proclaimed champions and gold medal in the B1-B2 women’s doubles, after beating Dolores López and María Poveda 21-14, 13 -21 and 21-11. Mompó repeated metal in the mixed doubles B1, after winning, together with Julio Martín, also from Setabense, against Zhi Ye and Mónica Manrique by 21-7 and 21-10. And Julio also won gold in the men’s doubles category B, teaming up with Juan A. López, from CB El Campello, beating Luis Gómez and Antonio Jover 20-22, 21-10 and 21-14 in the final. . In the category D men’s doubles, Carlos Martínez and Santiago Villanueva won gold after defeating all the participating couples. Martínez added the bronze to his record, in the men’s singles of SV +; and Villanueva also achieved bronze in the individual C2. In C1, José Luis Llopis won silver in the men’s doubles, along with Juan Carlos Hintze (CB Teulada); and bronze in the individual.

CB Xàtiva also played the second day of the Jocs Esportius for the Benjamin category, held last Saturday in Valencia. The players of the club and the Municipal Sports School of Badminton they achieved 67% victories in the individual and doubles events. From the Xàtiva Badminton Club, Arnau Ballester stood out, with plenty of victories; and Lidia Ramón, with three out of four. Joel Mahiques stood out for the EDM, with three victories; and Nerea Picó, Adrià Meseguer and Antoni Boscá, with two wins.

Next Saturday, CB Xàtiva will travel to Xàbia to play the fourth and last day of the Jocs Esportius in the children’s category. The people of Setabense will seek to consolidate themselves in the first positions to obtain a place in the Autonomous School in May.
