Crei starts the second phase of the championship on the right foot, beating Cestistica Argenta with an imperious second half, which has crumbled the resistance of the visiting team. Millina’s team, after a very difficult first half in which it was good at remaining attached to the guests who had started better, in the third quarter gave a first tear to the game with a grim defense, which granted only 7 points to Colantoni’s men and then, in the fourth period, he finally closed the match with a spectacular 9/12 shooting and 6/7 from the line. The captain of Granarolo, Luca Paoloni, who, in the second half, he scored 17 of the 21 points scored, with a last quarter of 11 points and 100% shooting. The guests, after a better start than the hosts, suffered the defensive pressure of Crei and relied mainly on long-range shooting which, after the 5 triples of the first half, was missing for the whole second twenty minutes. The exit from the field, due to injury, of Davide Alberti (a great good luck outside Argenta) at 4 ‘of the third period, certainly did not help the guests from this point of view, even if the percentages so far of the outside had not been very high.
The chronicle: Crei faces the match having to do without Salvardi (and the long-term injured) and recovering Tolomelli at the last minute, without training since last Sunday; Millina plays Bertacchini as playmaker, as for most of the first phase. Argenta immediately starts shooting towards the opponent’s basket, throwing six of the first seven shots from over the 6.25 range, targeting 2. Granarolo chooses to place the game closer to the basket, but apart from a basket by Luca Paoloni, he can’t help but hit the iron (2-6 to 4 ‘). Grazzi lights up and with 7 points in a row gives Argenta the maximum advantage (4-13 at 6’30 “), with Millina who has already spent a timeout and has Bertacchini and Luca Paoloni already on the bench with two fouls. The entrance of Guastaroba gives a little energy to Crei. who closes the first quarter with 5 points to recover (9-14). At the beginning of the second quarter Argenta’s long-range target shooting resumes, with two triples by Davide Alberti that bring it back to +8 (12-20 at 12 ‘). Zani unlocks the Bolognese from long distance and starts the 8-0 that brings Crei to parity (20-20 at 14’30 “). Frignani brings the guests back with two consecutive baskets, but Bertacchini and two trips to the line by Tolomelli give the first advantage to Granarolo (25-24 at 19’30 ”). Frignani makes 1/2 from the line and signs the 25-25 mid-race. The Crei that goes down on the parquet in the third quarter has a very different start from that of the beginning of the race: double by Salicini, Luca Paoloni and Bertacchini and first extension of the hosts (33-25 at 23 ‘). A minute later Davide Alberti, while dribbling back to the basket marked by Bertacchini, falls holding his left knee and after several minutes is taken out on a stretcher. The negative episode seems to shake the guests who return to -3 (33-30 at 26’30 “), Millina is not there and calls for the minute. A left half-hook from Guastaroba unlocks Crei then Luca Paoloni takes the chair, who has stopped at 6 points up until then: two free shots and a penetration basket for 39-32 with which the third period ends; at the beginning of the last fraction assist for Bertacchini’s triple, triple and free for the technician to Martini, then passes the baton to Bertacchini who, first assists Lorenzo Paoloni in the center of the area, then recovers the ball and takes off in a coast to coast concluded with a stoppage and shot from the media, for the 50-37 that forces Colantoni to timeout. The minute has no effect: Crei resumes from her captain who scores from the line, from the bow and assists Poggi for the triple of +19 (58-39 at 36’30 “) which, in fact, closes the contest. Granarolo starts to relax, but Millina immediately calls for a minute to remind him that the goal difference could have a weight; in the last minute Tolomelli, Brotza and Luca Paoloni bring the gap back to the twenty points reached at 37 ‘for the final 65-45.
