The 2nd phase of the pre-national men’s championship (PNM) starts this Saturday, March 5 at the intermunicipal hall. Interview with the sports manager and coach of the seniors.
What do you think of the first part of the championship?
I’m quite proud because despite the injuries and the absences, we did a very good job. You should know that except for the last two games, I only had hybrid teams, never the same players. We finished with two victories and finished in fourth place, which is not insignificant in the race for maintenance.
Could you be more precise ?
The two Mediterranean hens were reshuffled. The first looks for the rise, in the second where we figure we play the maintenance. The advantage is that we will not play the teams that we have already met. In addition, the results of the first phase are kept. Which allows us to start with four wins and no losses while our opponents have grilled jokers and leave with losses.
What worked best, and what worked worst?
What cost us dearly was the loss of certain executive players after the Covid. It was necessary to rebuild, in particular by integrating young people. On the other hand, it didn’t change anything in the state of mind and the will to play together. Even if the young people lack experience because in PNM it matters, they did the job. What also worked very well is that I have a combative team. Without being pejorative, they are dogs, they don’t let go. And it works even better when your back is against the wall. There’s always a little thing that triggers action and the rest follows with a burst of confidence, and it has nothing to do with scorched baskets. The geniac, it is not learned.
What are the objectives of this second phase?
We leave as if it were a new championship. The first resolution is to stay undefeated at home. Then, it will quickly be necessary to take shelter in relation to the maintenance. The following objectives will first be to go even further with the integration of young people, then to prepare for the next season.
