Celebrating Progress: Belt Promotions Mark Student Achievements

A testament to the dedication and hard work of the club’s students, approximately thirty individuals recently achieved a new belt ranking. These promotions, spanning white/yellow, yellow, and orange belts, signify the students’ mastery of technical skills and consistent attendance.

The belt ceremony, held on a Friday evening, was a joyous occasion witnessed by a large gathering of proud parents. Laurent Jeuffroy, the club’s esteemed instructor, personally presented each student with their well-deserved new belt. Jeuffroy, a decorated judo kata athlete with numerous national, continental, and world titles to his name, recently concluded his illustrious career, which culminated in a final world championship victory in Portugal alongside his brother Michel last year.[[1]]

the Beaune Judo Club welcomes individuals of all ages and experience levels to join their vibrant community. Classes are offered for children aged 5 to 7 on Fridays from 6:15 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Older children and adults can participate in sessions on Mondays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Fridays from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Sensei Jeuffroy recently concluded an incredible career anchored by a thrilling finale – a world championship victory in Portugal alongside his brother michel.He now dedicates his time to nurturing the next generation of judo athletes at the Beaune-la-Rolande Judo Club.

Laurent Jeuffroy: Thank you for having me. It’s a pleasure to be here.

Let’s talk about the beaune-la-Rolande Judo Club. We’ve recently heard some fantastic news about a surge in members, hinting at a bright future for the club. Can you shed some light on this resurgence?

LJ: It’s true, the Beaune-la-Rolande Judo club is enjoying a real revival after facing some challenges during the pandemic. It’s exciting to see so many new faces eager to learn the art of judo. The club now boasts around fifty members, which is a testament to the hard work of the entire team and the enduring appeal of this incredible martial art.

That’s fantastic! What do you attribute this renewed interest in judo to?

LJ: I think people are recognizing the numerous benefits that judo offers. It’s not just about physical strength; it’s about discipline, respect, and self-confidence. In today’s world, those qualities are arguably more important than ever. Judo also promotes a sense of community,which is evident in the vibrant atmosphere at our club.

You’ve recently celebrated the achievements of some of your students with a belt promotion ceremony. These milestones signify dedication and progress. Can you tell us more about that rewarding experience?

LJ: Witnessing my students progress and achieve new belt rankings is the most fulfilling part of being an instructor.

They’ve shown incredible commitment, both on and off the mat. It’s a testament to their hard work and dedication. Seeing their joy and pride at the ceremony, surrounded by their families, was truly heartwarming.

The Beaune Judo Club welcomes individuals of all ages and skill levels. What message would you give to someone who might be considering taking up judo,perhaps for the first time?

LJ: My message is simple: come give it a try! judo is a sport for everyone,regardless of age or experience.

Our club fosters a welcoming and supportive environment where anyone can learn and grow.We offer classes for children, teens, and adults, guided by experienced instructors who are passionate about sharing their knowledge. Judo is more than just a sport; it’s a journey of self-revelation, building confidence, discipline, and lasting friendships.
