Hollywood Stars Discuss work-Life Balance in New AppleTV Series

‘The Anthill’ kicked off the week with a bang, welcoming Hollywood heavyweights Ben Stiller and Adam Scott via video call. The duo discussed their latest project, the AppleTV+ series ‘Severance,’ where stiller takes on the role of director and Scott stars as the lead.

‘Severance’ explores a interesting premise: a group of employees undergo a procedure that separates their work memories from their personal lives. essentially, once they clock out, they have no recollection of their workday.

“It’s a concept many of us have fantasized about at some point,” stiller admitted, sharing a humorous anecdote from his pre-Hollywood days. “I once worked as a waiter, but was let go before I could even quit. I suspect it was as I eavesdropped on customer conversations and they weren’t too pleased,” he chuckled.

Scott, on the other hand, reflected on his journey to fame, noting that it took considerable time and effort. He expressed contentment with his current situation, stating that fame hasn’t negatively impacted his life. “I’m grateful for where I am and wouldn’t want to separate those two worlds,” he explained.

A Tennis Fan’s Dream

The conversation took a sporty turn when Pablo Motos brought up Stiller’s well-known passion for tennis, particularly his admiration for Rafael Nadal. Stiller revealed a remarkable experience from nearly a decade ago: “I’m a huge Nadal fan, and he actually invited me to play an exhibition match against Juan Martin del Potro.”

While a rematch was initially planned, it never materialized.Stiller recalled the encounter with a mix of amusement and humility: “Let’s just say I didn’t emerge victorious. But it was an unbelievable experience, and I learned some valuable lessons for a potential future match, even if it seems unlikely to happen.”

Nadal, Del Potro, and the Hollywood Hitman: A Tennis Talk with Andy Roddick

Welcome back, tennis fans, to another insightful episode of “Game, set, Chat”! Today, we have a true legend stepping onto our virtual court – retired ATP superstar Andy Roddick. Andy, thanks for joining us!

Andy: Always a pleasure, especially when tennis and pop culture collide. That Stiller/Nadal anecdote really caught my eye.

Me: Mine too! Ben Stiller, the comedic genius, sharing a court with Nadal, arguably the greatest clay court player of all time, and Del Potro—the powerful Argentine giant—layered with a Hollywood twist. It’s a recipe for an epic story!

Andy: (chuckles) Well, knowing Ben, there was probably more laughter than aces! But seriously, getting invited for a hit with Nadal is an incredible honour. It speaks volumes about Rafa’s personality and how he embraces the sport off the court. Not every legend would extend that kind of invitation.

Me: Exactly. On one hand, you’ve got this light-hearted, fun aspect, but on the other hand, wouldn’t there be immense pressure on Stiller stepping onto the court with these champions?

Andy: Absolutely. You’re talking about two guys at the peak of their athletic careers, going head-to-head against someone who, let’s be honest, is moast cozy wielding a script rather than a tennis racket. The pressure would be palpable

Me: I’m curious, Andy, from a champion’s perspective, what kind of ‘valuable lessons’ do you think Stiller could have learned from that match?

andy: Oh, plenty. Beyond the technical aspects of the game, I’d wager he learned about resilience, mental toughness, and the sheer physical demands of professional tennis.Playing Rafa, even in an exhibition, isn’t a walk in the park!

Me: It’s fascinating, and it begs the question – what would have gone through Stiller’s mind during that match? Do you think he’d play it for laughs, or treat it with fierce competitive spirit?

Andy:

Knowing Stiller’s personality, there would definitely be an element of humor. But trust me, the competitive fire comes alive in anyone who steps onto a court.

(Andy laughs)

Me: I believe it.Competitive spirit is what pushes athletes to greatness!
