“Biggest disappointment that he never played in the first team at Anderlecht”

Jean Kindermans has been youth coordinator at RSC Anderlecht for 17 years. He will have a lot of players come and go.

The selection of the Red Devils during this international break has 14 players with a past with Purple & White. Kindermans does not have to think long about his biggest disappointment, which never made it to the first team.

“Without a doubt Adnan Januzaj,” Kindermans told HLN. “Pure class, a ten that never lost a ball. Adnan was very calm, timid, and well-bred. His daddy was… very present.”

Although father also exerted a lot of pressure. “I was left with an ulcer from the cups of coffee I drank in my desk with him. He wanted an interview every now and then. One day the daddy came to tell me that they were leaving for Manchester United.”

Manchester United signed 16-year-old Januzaj for 550,000 euros. “Our youth chairman at the time, Philippe Collin, said that given the lack of explosiveness at Januzaj, we were not doing a bad thing financially.”
