Brazil leads France Football’s Dream Team with Cafu, Pele and Ronaldo

With a trio in the French magazine’s all-time lineup, Brazil is the country with the most representatives on the Ballon D’Or team.

Three Brazilians were chosen to form the Dream Team (Dream Selection) from France Soccer, traditional French football magazine. The publication gathered the votes of 140 journalists from around the world to select a team with the best players of all time and the lineup had a trio from Brazil: cafu, Skin e Ronaldo.

With the Brazilians, the Dream Team lineup was as follows: Lev Yachine (Soviet Union); Cafu (Brazil), Beckenbauer (Germany) and Paolo Maldini (Italy); Lothar Matthaus (Germany), Xavi (Spain), Maradona (Argentina) and Pele (Brazil); Ronaldo (Brazil), Messi (Argentina) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal).

France Football has been organizing the Ballon D’Or for over 60 years, which elects the best players playing in Europe each season. This year, with the award suspended due to the covid-19 pandemic, the magazine organized an election to choose the best players of all time. Three dream teams were selected, with the presence of eight Brazilians in all. In addition to Cafu, Pelé and Ronaldo in the First Team, Carlos Alberto Torres, Roberto Carlos, Ronaldinho and Garrincha (Second Team) and Didi (Third Team) were also nominated.
