A Triumph of Archery: Les archers Bressolais Hosts Thriving Fita Tournament

The Bressols multipurpose hall buzzed with excitement this week as Les Archers Bressolais hosted a major Fita archery tournament, drawing a remarkable 80 archers from across the region. Under the expert guidance of referee Dominique Clément and the watchful eye of club president Frédéric Bugnone, the event showcased a diverse range of talent, with participants representing clubs from Montech to Perpignan, Clermont-Ferrand to Albi.

This indoor competition, held at a distance of 2×18 meters, saw exceptional performances across all age categories. Young archers like Matis Bonnafe (chicks), Sacha wagner (youngsters), and Dorian Lemoine (minims) demonstrated impressive skill, while Éva Cabrerizo Deswaziere (cadets) and Romain bonnafe (cadets) shone brightly in their respective divisions. The junior ranks saw Marion Gamel excel in the women’s category, while Romain Lejeune dominated the men’s competition.

The senior division was a testament to the depth of talent in the region, with Séverine Blin and Pierre-Laurent Cazes securing top honors for the women and men, respectively.Aziza Benhami, Philippe Pagnutti, Jean-Paul Ducassou, and a host of other skilled archers also delivered outstanding performances, highlighting the competitive spirit of the event.

Adding to the excitement,David dublois emerged victorious in the minimal men’s category,while Julien Duprat showcased his mastery in the senior men’s bare bow division. julia Choquenot Berton, Anthony Ferrière, Séverine Chevret, Emmanuel Dupuis, Joseph Pincemail, Nathan Docquois, Thomas Cazalens, Mathieu Salas, Isabelle Debaig, and Patrick Pace all contributed to the thrilling competition, further solidifying the tournament’s success.

The day culminated in a celebratory awards ceremony, graced by the presence of Jean-Louis Éternot, deputy mayor and sports representative. This prestigious event not only showcased the exceptional archery talent within the region but also served as a testament to the dedication and hard work of Les Archers bressolais in organizing such a triumphant and memorable tournament.

Thank you! It always feels great to compete at home, especially with such a strong turnout. The atmosphere in the Bressols multipurpose hall was electric, which definitely added to the excitement. I was feeling confident in my training but knew ther woudl be stiff competition.

You certainly faced tough rivals in the senior women’s division. What was your strategy going into the final rounds?

it’s always significant to stay focused on your own performance rather than getting caught up in what others are doing. I tried to maintain a calm and consistent approach, focusing on each shot individually and trusting my technique.

The tournament saw impressive performances across all age categories. Do you see a bright future for archery in the region?

Absolutely! It was inspiring to see so many young archers displaying such talent and dedication. The future of archery is in good hands with these rising stars. Events like this Fita tournament are crucial for their growth, providing valuable experiance and exposure to competitive archery.

Speaking of the tournament, what were your thoughts on how Les Archers Bressolais organized the event?

Thay did a fantastic job! From the organization to the facilities, everything was top-notch. The referee, Dominique Clément, was excellent, ensuring a fair and well-run competition. The presence of Jean-Louis Éternot, the deputy mayor, also demonstrates the community’s support for archery, which is incredibly encouraging.

what advice would you give to aspiring archers hoping to follow in your footsteps?

Never give up on your passion! Archery is a challenging sport that requires dedication and perseverance. Practice consistently, seek guidance from experienced coaches, and most importantly, enjoy the journey. It’s a truly rewarding sport, both physically and mentally.
