Caroline Garcia was eliminated in the second round of the Indian Wells tournament on Friday. The French player, ranked 66th in the WTA, was dominated by Britain’s Emma Raducanu (6-1, 3-6, 6-1), seeded No. 11 and winner of the US Open last year.
In the first set, Garcia was quickly left behind (3-0) and did not worry her opponent. In the next set, however, she knocked over Raducanu. Caroline Garcia started by unbreaking, at 1-0. Then, she took two more times the opposing service (3-2 then 4-3) to equalize at one set everywhere.
But, in the third and final set, Garcia was still trailing from the start (3-0) and was unable to come back to Emma Raducanu. In the third round, she will face the Croatian Petra Martic.
