UD Ibiza-CB Pitiús will have to play a one-game tie to avoid relegation after losing yesterday in sa Blanca Dona against Granada Grupo Torres and closing the regular phase in group B of the División de Honor in the fourth and penultimate position.
The Ibizan team once again suffered a tight 3-4 loss in a clash marked by casualties in the local team and with the debut this season of the Olympian Clara Azurmendi, with two partial wins.
Pitiús was playing to conclude the season with guaranteed permanence and with no further aspirations in third position, against a direct rival who arrived on the island with nothing to lose in relegation promotion positions. Thus, with 3-3 on the scoreboard, the young Amaury Lievre defeated the local Marc Cardona in a heart-stopping finale by 11-10, 7-11, 8-11 and 8-11, a victory that allows Granada to climb to the third plaza and send the pitiuso team to the fight for permanence.
As fourth classified, UD Ibiza-CB Pitiús will face fifth in group A, Ravachol Pontevedra, in a single-leg tie that will be played in two weekends at sa Blanca Dona. “It’s a fateful season in every way, let’s hope that for this match we don’t suffer setbacks, play heads up and that everything goes well,” said the Ibiza coach, Ernesto García.
