In a recent interview and photo shoot for Bazaar Korea magazine,Chae Jong Hyeop talked about his upcoming KBS drama “Love All Play“!
“Love All Play” is a new sports romance drama about a man and a woman who play on a mixed badminton team. Chae Jong Hyeopwho recently appeared in the dramas “Nevertheless” and “The Witch’s Diner”, will play the male lead Park Tae Joon, who only thinks of badminton as his job. Park Ju Hyun She will play the female lead Park Tae Yang, a former Olympic hopeful who only lives for badminton.
This is not the first time that Chae Jong Hyeop plays an athlete: in the hit drama “Stove League” of 2019, he played a professional baseball player named Yoo Min Ho.
Comparing their two characters, Chae Jong Hyeop commented, “’Stove League’ Yoo Min Ho was a character who worked extremely hard, and ‘Love All Play’ Park Tae Joon is the complete opposite. But in terms of the preparation process, I worked harder for this latest role.”
“In a way, I’m just imitating [a los jugadores de bádminton], but I wanted to imitate them as much as possible,” he explained. “So I practiced everything, starting with the correct way to hold the racket. I had watched my lead actors prepare for ‘Stove League,’ and made up for my shortcomings back then while preparing for this drama.”
Chae Jong Hyeop also revealed that she suffered a minor injury while preparing for the drama.
“Badminton is very difficult,” said the actor. “You have to use muscles you don’t normally use and you have to repeat the same poses over and over again. I even sustained a minor injury while repeatedly practicing the same steps. But it was also immensely satisfying. Just like in ‘Stove League,’ I felt like a real baseball player when I stepped on the mound, I felt a surge of endorphins when I filmed our match scenes for this drama.”
“Love All Play” will premiere on April 20 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
