Get in on it “AstraDoc – Journey into the cinema of reality” with two tight appointments at the Cinema academy Astra in the space of three days. Friday 11 March at 20:30 there will be, exclusively in Naplesthe screening of the award-winning documentary «Radiograph of a family» Of Firouzeh Khosrovani (Norway / Iran / Switzerland, 2020), in the presence of the Iranian director with an introduction by the professor Silvana Carotenutopresident of the Center for Postcolonial and Gender Studies of L’Orientale University.
It continues on Monday 14 March with the special event of the national preview of “Yeast” Of Cyop&Kaf(Italy, 2021), with a double screening, at 7 pm and 9 pm. The directors, the production and the protagonists of the film will participate in the special event: in particular, there will be Maurizio Braucci, Peppe Carini, Pietro Di Meglio e Peppe Marble.
“Radiography of a family”, winner of the most important world documentary film festival, the Idfa in Amsterdam, traces the history of Khosrovani, daughter of a layman and a practicing Muslim. The family conflict reflects that between secularism and Islamic ideology that characterizes Iran. The work tells the story of the Islamic revolution which influenced the daily aspects of the director and her parents. Through the report of the latter, various historical periods of the country are retraced: from the era of the Shah, to the Iran-Iraq war, from the Islamic revolution to the present day. The voices of the past, letters and photographs are the tools that the director has chosen to make known the story of a divided family, a struggling daughter and a society that, in just over forty years, has undergone profound changes.
“A revolution has taken place in my house that has affected every aspect of our life. Each of my parents represented a part of it. The revolution gave my mother the role of a religious fighter. She tried to convert me, which scared my father very much. Religion has become her nightmare. This film is the story of the hidden and blatant conflicts that have affected our lives, ”says Firouzeh Khosrovani.
«Yeast» investigates the life of a group of adolescents and their educational relationship with adults. A summer camp, a judo gym and a contemporary art museum are the spaces in which the narration moves, which focuses on teaching methods, educational practices, material and symbolic rules. Among others, the stories of Bruno Leonepuppet craftsman, and teacher Peppe Carini to describe the relationship between students and teachers in a city, Naples, where school has never been the only place to learn to live.
«The teacher-student relationship is investigated here in its construction phase. The gray areas, the resistances, remain barely mentioned, and the inevitable moment in which the student will begin to doubt the teachings of the master is postponed to an indefinite time.
