GUADALAJARA, Jal., March 11, 2022.- The director of Competitive Sports of the State Council for Sports Development (Code) Jalisco, Carlos González, clarifies that after complaints from the mother of the 13-year-old badminton athlete, José Miguel Pérez Lugardo for alleged discrimination by his coach, there is an open investigation and it will be the internal comptroller who determines if there should be any sanction.
“The demand is the punishment of the coach, when what we ask the lady is to allow us to carry out the investigation and the internal comptrollership, which is the one in charge of sanctioning if there was a problem with a public official, and if it were In this case, he would have the sanctions on the coach, but he sued him immediately, even so, we revoked the issue of the suspension until the internal comptroller had the verdict, and then we could take action on such, we put him to train with our best coach, with the coach of the national team, Salvador Sánchez, and even so the lady, despite the fact that her conditions improved, she continues to demand that the coach be sanctioned, that he be suspended».
The Code Jalisco is willing to reach an agreement with the 13-year-old badminton athlete, José Miguel Pérez Lugardo, and his mother, who has pointed out that her son has been discriminated against for having Asperger’s syndrome, including improving the training of his coaches to that inclusion is a reality in all disciplines, said the director of Competitive Sports, Carlos González.
“There is commitment, there is conviction and I tell you with all honesty and feeling ahead, the commitment that this happens, we are not going to allow the rights of girls and boys to be violated and above all that they may be discriminator, there is that commitment of the institution, that there is no such discrimination for our athletes ».
The Code Jalisco official explained that the problem with the athlete’s mother began in 2022 when he was suspended, arguing that the young man competed for the state of Michoacán, which is not allowed by the regulations.
He insisted that in the Code inclusion is a reality in more than one sense and that proof of this was the Pride Games Guadalajara 2021 where the participation of communities of sexual diversity was promoted.
JOSÉ MIGUEL NEVER PLAYED FOR MICHOACÁN…
For the mother of the Code Jalisco Badminton athlete, José Miguel Pérez, Karen Lugardo, it is not enough that the authorities of this council undertake to investigate her complaints of discrimination against her son, she considers that there should be sanctions for the coaches to think before mistreating children with disabilities and exemplifies what happened with the junior Pan American selective when it was the officials themselves who signed him up to participate with a boy from Michoacán and then suspended him for it.
“My son participated in a selective junior Pan American, clearly it says that the only ones who can register us is the association, methodologists or coaches, so I was not the one who registered him, and my son did not play for Michoacán, he played with an athlete from Michoacán, that they explain to me why he played, why they signed him up, it is clearer that they are telling me that they do not want him on the team and less so in Jalisco.
He insisted that the actions of the coaches to nullify the young athlete have been repeated, consistent, as now with the selective ones for the national games, and explained that he does maintain his position of demanding sanctions
