Heinous act of vandalism against the toilets and changing rooms of the pitches in via delle Palme, in Comiso. They were delivered to the city 3 years ago. “Sometimes disappointment and despair prevail”, declares the mayor Maria Rita Schembari.
An act of vandalism such as had not yet been seen in Comiso, which denotes an unusual destructive fury. This is what was presented to the sight of some citizens in the early afternoon of yesterday, Saturday 26 March, as they passed by the fields of via delle Palme, fortunately served by video surveillance cameras. A citizen took a few shots with his mobile phone and immediately notified the Mayor who, in turn, reported the fact to the Carabinieri, the Police and the Local Police. Investigations are already underway, and law enforcement agencies are capturing images of the area’s public and private video cameras. From a first estimate, the damages would amount to more than 50,000 euros. Hot, the mayor, Maria Rita Schembari commented:
“The changing rooms and bathrooms of the pitch in via delle Palme destroyed with a fury that I would define horrendous. We have reported to the Carabinieri and Police, who will immediately view public and private cameras, and alerted our Municipal Police, also to prevent some boys from getting hurt. I confess, however, that sometimes disappointment and despair prevail: if we do not love our city and what good it offers us, so as to literally raze everything to the ground, we are not worthy to live in a civil society ” .
