Conflicting rules complicate Belgian assignment: AA Gent must already reach the Conference final to save a Champions League ticket

Well, that escalated quickly. Due to the European defeat of AA Gent visiting PAOK last night and an anomaly in the rules that suited competitor Serbia, the Belgian champion of next season has almost certainly lost his direct Champions League ticket. Only if the Buffalos become the first Belgian club in a European final since 1993 (!), the European ticket can still be saved.
